Anthony (Tony) Meadows (he/him) received a Bachelor of 音乐 (Therapy) degree from the University of Melbourne (Australia) in 1988 and a Master of 音乐疗法 (1996) and Ph.D. from Temple University (2002). He has been a music therapist since 1989 and has over 25 years of clinical experience. Meadows was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II and Esther Boyer Scholarships to study music therapy in the United States. From 1988 to 1996 Meadows worked as a music therapist in a school setting for children with multiple disabilities. From 2002 to 2014 he worked as a music therapist at the Joan Karnell Cancer Center at Pennsylvania Hospital, establishing and expanding the program. In 2008 and 2013 Meadows received the Flagler Fultz Research Award from the American 音乐疗法 Association (AMTA) to examine the effectiveness of music and imagery in managing symptoms related to chemotherapy infusions and to complete a qualitative research synthesis of music therapy research focused on clinical improvisation. He has published widely in music therapy, including “Developments of 音乐疗法 Practice: Case 研究 Perspectives” (2011). Meadows served as editor-in-chief of 音乐疗法 Perspectives between 2008 to 2016, one of the premier music therapy journals in the United States. He also served for many years on the AMTA Assembly of Delegates, MAR-AMTA Research Committee, for which he received a service award in 2016.
Meadows has taught at several universities and guest lectured in a number of music therapy programs. He taught in the undergraduate and graduate music therapy program at Temple University (2002 to 2006), directed the music therapy program at Immaculata University (2007 tp 2014), and has taught in the music therapy program at Shenandoah University since 2014. He currently serves as program director.

Personal Highlights:
Tony Meadows lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife and elderly dog. He grew up in Australia and has lived in the United States for over 25 years. Meadows has two sons, both of whom recently graduated from college. He is an avid walker, loves adventure travel and scuba dives whenever possible. In his younger years, he was a marathon runner, completing two marathons in Melbourne, Australia. He walked the Mont Blanc tour with one of his sons in 2014 and his last scuba diving adventure was on the Great Barrier Reef.
